Is it legal, and what laws are associated with CBD?

In the US, CBD is legal, even in states where medicinal and recreational marijuana is illegal. This is due to the passing of the 2018 Farm Bill, which legalized industrial hemp production. Industrial hemp is defined as any cannabis strain with less than .3% THC content. The FDA actually classifies CBD as a pharmaceutical drug, and not as a dietary supplement, since it approved the sale of Epidiolex, a prescription drug used for treating epilepsey whose active ingredient is CBD. This makes CBD akin to over-the-counter pharmaceuticals. That said, it would be prudent to review local and municipal laws or to consult with a legal professional in your jurisdiction to ensure compliance with local regulations.

Will I fail a drug test if I take CBD oil?

Yes, it is possible you may fail a drug test. Although the THC content of cannabis strains from which CBD is derived, is low, and at legal levels, it is possible that these miniscule quantities could show up on a drug test. This is similar to how eating poppy-seeds prior to a drug test could test positive for heroin.

Does CBD interact with any other medication?

Yes, they interfere with medications in the same way as grapefruit does, and therefore CBD use should be well monitored when taking any medications whitch warn against the consumption of grapefruit. Such an example is Warfarin. Always consult with your physician before taking a new pharmaceutical. For specific reference, it inhibits the cytochrome P450 enzymes in the liver.

What plants are used to make CBD oil, and does any hemp variety contain CBD?

Specially bred cannabis strains with high CBD content are used to produce CBD oil. Although many industrial strains contain some quantity of CBD, it is better to use a strain specifically bred for CBD production. The CBD content of a plant is also not a matter of growing environment, and the ratio between CBD and THC of a strain is genetically pre-determined.

Is CBD oil basically cannabis juice?

No, raw cannabis juice contains CBDA, which is CBD-acid.  CBDA must be heat-treated in order to convert to CBD-oil.
